Detailed profiles of schools for Rehabilitation Training from the EdRef college search portal.
Rehabilitation Training programs are typically divided into two distinct courses of study: occupational therapy and physiotherapy. Occupational therapy training prepares students to advocate for the occupational needs of particular individuals as well as for the society as a whole. Occupational needs go far beyond the workplace to include everything necessary to lead a life that is enjoyable and make an economic and social contribution to society. Students of occupational therapy learn to make valuable contributions to the everyday lives of clients with particular emphasis on the clients’ occupations.
Physiotherapy is based much more in research, theory, and clinical service. Students learn how to help patients improve or restore their movement, health, and function. They learn to work with people from all phases of life, from newborns to senior citizens, and they may specialize in a particular age range. They are trained in a variety of skills, including biomechanics, health psychology, and motor control. They use their skills and knowledge to diagnose and provide intervention to patients.
