Interdisciplinary Studies programs focus on helping students gain the ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and make ethical decisions. They are often centered on the humanities, natural and social sciences, mathematics, and communications. Students are able to choose courses that fit their educational and career needs. They may choose a concentration in communications, general studies, the social sciences, business information technology, or management. Students learn the skills they need to effectively solve many of today’s most pressing problems.

There are many specialized programs within the area of interdisciplinary studies, such as biopsychology, gerontology, historic preservation, computer science, museum studies, peace studies, renaissance and medieval studies, system theory, and technology and society. Students are presented with a curriculum that is broad-based and flexible, allowing them to pursue their individual interests. Students are encouraged to develop a mastery of a variety of disciplinary perspectives.
