Psychobiology Education

Detailed profiles of schools for Psychobiology from the EdRef college search portal.

Psychobiology programs combine study in the life and behavioral science and are well suited for students seeking careers in medicine, psychology, research, or college teaching. Programs begin by helping students develop strong foundations in this broad field. Then students proceed to acquire in-depth knowledge in a range of specific research topic areas. Students take courses in ecology, evolution, neuroscience, biochemistry, pharmacology, organismal biology, and biotechnology. Students are exposed to techniques and problems that are demanding and require methodological analysis in order to solve.

These programs typically satisfy the requirements for admission to medical school or graduate programs in clinical psychology. Students who graduate from these types of graduate programs often go on to teach at universities or medical schools. They may also choose to enter private industry and work for biotechnology firms, or they work for government agencies.
