Energy Installation programs give students hands-on training in variety of energy related skills. Students learn the basics of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning technology. They are trained in the use, installation, and maintenance of windows and insulation products that are energy-efficient. They get the chance to practice techniques that allow them to evaluate and measure the efficiency of various commercial and industrial energy projects. They learn a variety of different approaches to help customers save energy.

Some courses emphasize PV design and installation through solar energy centers. There are national certification exams available to graduates of these programs, and when graduates become certified, their employment potential rises significantly. Students come to these programs from a variety of professions, including construction, realty, banking, and building. They learn about the costs and benefits of various energy systems, and they gain experience building and selling different energy systems.
