Anthem Institute started in 1970 as a computer training center for one of the largest insurance organizations in the world. Today Anthem Institute is a multi-campus school with eight campuses in Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Anthem Institute is part of the High-Tech Institute (HTI) family of schools that consists of over 25 campuses in 17 states across the United States. Anthem Institute's mission is to educate and prepare students for successful design, information technology and medical careers.

Anthem Institute focuses exclusively on offering students training in some of the fastest growing job positions, including computer networking and security, graphic design and animation, massage therapy, medical administration, medical assisting, medical billing and coding, and surgical technologist. Anthem Institute uses a training methodology that simulates an on-the-job experience by incorporating hands-on, real-world projects.

Anthem Institute is also affiliated with Anthem College Online. Individuals can earn a diploma with Anthem, and then continue on with Anthem and earn a degree.

Anthem Institute has a full-time career services staff to assists student in good standing in developing life-long job search skills. In addition, Anthem Institute also offers an online form for individuals to request, at no obligation, more information about their innovative programs. Anthem Institute has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education for eligible students to receive Pell Grants and other federal aid (e.g., Direct Loans).
