Founded in 1911, Baker College is the largest independent college in the state of Michigan, with over 31,000 students across 12 campuses and five satellite locations. Baker offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. It also offers associate, bachelor, and master degree programs through Baker Online, its innovative, virtual, online program for delivering high quality courses via the Internet. Attendance in courses is neither time or place dependent. This means that students may attend classes at times or places of their choosing. While courses do have specific start and end dates, within these dates students have the flexibility to work on their own schedule at any location. This kind of flexibility allows students to get a degree while working and tending to life's other important activities. Baker Online features conferencing, online asynchronous discussions, and virtual classrooms for a full and rich academic experience. A Baker College Online computer science student has recently been named a Microsoft Student Ambassador for U.S. universities for the 2005-06 school year, recognizing their technology knowledge and willingness to share that knowledge with fellow students.
Baker Online is one of the most affordable colleges, public or private, in the nation. For individuals who require financial assistance, Baker College has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education allowing eligible students to receive federal aid, such as Pell Grants. Additional aid options open to students of Baker College include: grants, loans, scholarships, state aid, Veterans Administration (VA) benefits, and work/study aid. Baker College offers the following student services: academic advising services, alumni services, career services, learning support services, library services, and a technical help desk.
