Benedictine University Description

Benedictine University was founded as St. Procopius College by the Benedictine monks of St. Procopius Abbey in 1887. It became Benedictine University in 1996. Benedictine University is located in Lisle, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. A suburban location such as Lisle is a nice compromise for an individual who wants easy access to all that a large city has to offer, without having to deal with the congestion of a large city. Lisle provides easy access to Chicago, a center of art, culture, design, entertainment, fine dining, history, nightlife, industry, and government. Benedictine offers 42 undergraduate programs, seven master's degree programs, numerous dual-degree options, and one Ph.D. degree program. In addition, Benedictine offers 18 graduate certificate programs. Benedictine also offers 11 adult accelerated undergraduate degree programs and three adult undergraduate certificate programs.

Benedictine University also offers a high-quality, fully online, M.B.A. program, called WebFlex M.B.A. The program is designed to be completed in as little as two years, but students may also take up to six years to complete the program. Online delivery allows maximum flexibility so that students may fit their education around busy work and life schedules. The program allows individuals to achieve education goals that are vital to career advancement and success. Benedictine University ranked 29th among more than 140 schools classified as "Best Universities – Master’s" in the Midwest, according to 2006 figures released by U.S. News & World Report. For seven years in a row Benedictine has ranked in the top 25 percent of Midwestern colleges and universities that offer a full range of undergraduate degrees and master’s degrees. Benedictine also ranked sixth among Midwest universities in “Campus Diversity.”

Benedictine University has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education allowing eligible students to receive federal aid such as Pell Grants. Additional aid options open to students of Benedictine University include: loans, grants, scholarships, and company tuition reimbursement programs. Benedictine University offers the following student services: an alumni association, academic advising, an academic resource center, online technology training, and career development.
