Border Institute of Technology Description

The Border Institute of Technology (BIT) is a small school located in El Paso Texas. El Paso, the sixth largest city in Texas and one of the 25 largest cities in the United States, is located in western Texas, on the border of New Mexico and Mexico. BIT was originally founded in 1964 as Mannequin Manor Finishing and Modeling School. In 1979, with new facilities and an expansion in program offerings, it was renamed the Southwest Institute of Merchandising and Design. The name was again changed to the Border Institute of Technology, or BIT in 1999. The Border Institute of Technology is a private, post-secondary institution that is dedicated to providing quality educational offerings designed to prepare students for specific professional fields.

BIT offers certificates and associate's degrees in business and technology related fields. Some of BIT's programs can be complete in as little as 9 months. BIT features state-of-the-art facilities, and a highly qualified faculty with real-world business experience. The Border Institute of Technology also offers an Accelerated Learning Center to help students with a long list of hands-on certification courses. The Accelerated Learning Center is the only Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions (CPLS) (formerly Certified Technical Education Center or CTEC) in the El Paso region.

The Border Institute Of Technology has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education allowing eligible students to receive federal aid such as Pell Grants. Additional aid options open to students of BIT include: grants, loans, scholarships, state aid, veterans and state vocational rehabilitation programs. BIT offers job placement services helping students to find both full and part-time employment. The Border Institute of Technology also offers an online form for individuals to request, at no obligation, more information about their innovative programs.
