Brookdale Community College Description

Founded in 1967, Brookdale Community College is a school of over 13,000 students located in Lincroft, New Jersey. Lincroft is located in east/central New Jersey, about an hour drive east of Trenton. Brookdale offers certificate programs and associate's degree programs in over 50 areas of study. Brookdale also offers non-degree and non-credit courses. In addition, Brookdale offers many distance learning options to maximize flexibility. Students can take online courses, telecourses offered via cable television, and view video/audio tapes for broadcast courses. Brookdale now also offers a business administration associate of arts degree online.

Brookdale Community College features a 220-acre main campus, a 380-seat performing arts center, an advanced technology center with state-of-the art television and electronic music studios, 10 athletic fields, Brookdale public radio, the Children`s Learning Center, and approximately 60 computer labs. Brookdale's Experiential Learning Department also offers programs designed to complement a student’s academic study with “hands-on”, real-world work experience through internships and externships. For students looking to gain international experience, Brookdale Community College sponsors five study abroad programs. Brookdale is an open admission college, available to anyone 18 years of age or older, who is a high school graduate or holder of a high school equivalency diploma. Almost three quarters of Brookdale graduates move on to attend a four-year college program.

Brookdale Community College has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education, allowing eligible students to receive federal aid such as Pell Grants. Additional aid options open to students of Brookdale Community College include: grants, loans, scholarships, state aid, and work/study programs. Brookdale Community College offers the following student services: an alumni association, catering services, college stores, counseling services, dining services, disability services, and student-life services. Additional accreditations are as follows: the Nursing program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, the Respiratory Therapy program is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, the Radiologic Technology program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, the Paralegal Studies Program is approved by the American Bar Association, and the GM-ASEP and Toyota T-Ten options of the Automotive Technology program are certified by the National Automotive Technicians Foundation (NATEF). In addition, Brookdale`s intercollegiate teams compete in the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC), and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
