The Brooks Institute is a school of over 2,700 students located in the beautiful coastal community of Santa Barbara, California. The Brooks Institute follows a philosophy of "learn by doing". At Brooks, students gain the artistic, technical, and business expertise needed to succeed in visual communications. The Brooks Institute offers diploma, associate's, bachelor's, and master's degree programs in the visual arts. The master's program can be completed in as little as one year. The bachelor's program can be completed in as little as three years, and the associate's degree program can be completed in as little as 18 months. Brooks also offers special status studies and weekend workshops.

The Brooks Institute's programs are designed for individuals who aspire to a career in photography or filmmaking, as well as working photographers who seek new skills to advance their careers. A world leader in professional photographic and motion picture education, the Brooks Institute can provide an individual with the necessary education to succeed in exciting and creative visual arts careers.

The Brooks Institute has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education, allowing eligible students to receive federal aid such as Pell Grants.
