California Culinary Academy Description

Founded in 1977, the California Culinary Academy (CCA) is a culinary school of over 2,700 students located in picturesque San Francisco, California. San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the United States, with a rich culinary heritage. Just north of San Francisco is the world famous California wine country of Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino. CCA gives students unparalleled instruction in both classical and contemporary techniques, and is now partnered with the world-renowned Le Cordon Bleu culinary and hospitality training program. CCA offers a certificate program in baking and pastry arts, and associate's programs in culinary arts, and hospitality and restaurant management.

The California Culinary Academy has two state-of-the-art facilities near each other in downtown San Francisco. Combined these facilities provide: lecture classrooms designed for wireless network access; professional production kitchens for hands-on chef training; baking and pastry kitchens for learning the techniques for breads, pastries, cakes, and plated desserts; a confectionery for learning the art of chocolate and sugar work; Garde Manger kitchens; butcheries; demonstration kitchens; an Asian kitchen with built-in wok stations; a computer classroom with individual student workstations, and a mixology lab and a gaming room to practice bar and casino operations. In addition, CCA has on-campus public restaurants staffed by Academy students to provide them with real-life culinary and restaurant management training. The California Culinary Academy has everything an individual needs to get the education to start them on an exciting career in the food service industry.

The California Culinary Academy has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education, allowing eligible students to receive federal aid such as Pell Grants. Additional aid options open to students of CCA include: grants and loans. CCA tuition planners are available to assist students through the financial aid application process. The California Culinary Academy offers the following student services: advising services, student life services such as trips to Napa Valley and other Bay Area attractions, student housing, and career services.
