Founded in 1978, the Court Reporting Institute (CRI) is a multi-campus school of over 1,000 students with locations in Dallas, and Houston, Texas. CRI is part of Vatterott Education Centers, Inc. Vatterott Education Centers, Inc. operates over 18 colleges in the United States and offers programs from the diploma level to the bachelor's degree level.

The Court Reporting Institute offers associate degree programs in reporting. Programs are offered both full-time during the day, and part-time, in the evening. This course scheduling flexibility makes it easier for individuals with substantial work and life obligations to obtain the education necessary to start a new career as a court reporter.

The Court Reporting Institute has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education for eligible students to receive Pell Grants and other federal aid (e.g., Direct Loans). The Court Reporting Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, approved by the National Court Reporters Association, and licensed by the Texas Workforce Commission.
