Kaplan College Description

Founded in 1938, Kaplan College is a school of nearly a thousand students located in Hagerstown, Maryland. Hagerstown is approximately an hour and fifteen minute drive northwest of Baltimore, in north/central Maryland. Kaplan College is committed to offering quality programs that integrate general education and professional skills with career-focused education that empowers students to achieve their personal and career goals.

Kaplan College's curriculum is practical and designed to give students what they need to get the job they want. Kaplan College offers certificate and associate degree programs in allied health, business, legal, and computer technology. In total, Kaplan College has 12 programs of study that can provide the education necessary to get started on a new career or further an existing career.

Kaplan College has an open admissions policy. Kaplan College does not require any tests such as SATs or ACTs for admission. Prospective students participate in a placement assessment program that will measure their skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. This is a means for Kaplan College to determine a student's first term schedule.

Kaplan College has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education for eligible students to receive Pell Grants and other federal aid (e.g., Direct Loans). Additional aid options open to qualifying students of Kaplan COllege include employer reimbursement programs, grants, loans, scholarships, state aid, work/study programs, and Veterans Affairs (VA) Benefits.

Kaplan College offers the following student services: career services, counseling services, clubs and organizations, housing services, and student activities. Kaplan College is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). It is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs, approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. Additional alliances and memberships include: Microsoft Solutions Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA), member of the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), member of the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce, the Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce, the Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce, the the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Career College Association.
