LeTourneau University Description

LeTourneau University (LETU) is a school of approximately 3,600 students with its main campus in Longview, Texas. Longview is approximately a two hour drive east of Dallas. LeTourneau University integrates learning, living, and Christian leadership in a community of integrity, academic quality, and technological innovation. LETU is consistently ranked as one of "America's Best Colleges" by U.S. News and World Report.

LeTourneau University offers more than 60 academic majors in the aeronautical sciences (aviation), business, education, engineering, kinesiology, the humanities, and sciences. LeTourneau University also offers business degrees and teacher certification programs at five education centers in Austin, Bedford, Dallas, Houston and Tyler.

LeTourneau University offers many accelerated programs for working adults. Among other programs, LETU offers a highly regarded accelerated Bachelor's Degree and Teacher Certification (TEACH) program. The TEACH program provides individuals the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and an EC-4 (generalist) state certification in an accelerated format designed for the working adult. Courses run year round with new classes starting as soon as 16-22 people register for a program. The program combines traditional classroom teaching (typically in the evening) with online courses to make it easier for individuals with substantial work and life obligations to obtain their education.

LeTourneau University has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education for eligible students to receive Pell Grants and other federal aid (e.g., Direct Loans). Additional aid options open to qualifying students of LETU include grants, loans, scholarships, state aid, and work/study programs. Approximately 93% of LeTourneau University traditional undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid.

LeTourneau University offers the following student services: athletics, alumni services, career services, counseling services, health services, and tutoring services. LeTourneau University is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges. LeTourneau's business programs are accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). LeTourneau University's engineering and engineering technology programs are accredited by Engineering Accreditation Commission and the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The aeronautical science program is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration. In addition, The Texas State Board for Educator Certification has approved LeTourneau University as an undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, graduate, and “No Child Left Behind” compliant certification program.

LeTourneau University competes at the NCAA Division III level in the American Southwest Conference (ASC).
