Motorcycle Mechanics Institute Description

The Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) is part of Universal Technical Institute, Inc. It is located in Avondale, Arizona. Avondale is a suburb, approximately a 25 minute drive west of Phoenix. MMI also has a branch campus in Orlando, Florida. MMI specializes in real-world motorcycle technician training programs to help individuals start a career in the motorcycle repair industry. The Motorcycle Mechanics Institute has the support of all five of the major motorcycle manufacturers, including: Harley-Davidson Motor Co., American Honda, American Suzuki, Yamaha Motor Corp. USA, and Kawasaki Motors Corp., USA.

The Motorcycle Mechanics Institute offers programs of study that focus on hands-on and classroom training. Students start by completing the Motorcycle Technician prerequisite training; then move on to a series of courses that focus on specific motorcycle systems, emphasizing service, repair and maintenance procedures; and finally, students complete 24 weeks or more of manufacturer-specific elective course training. At MMI, individuals can train to be a motorcycle technician and launch their career in as little as 57 weeks.

Universal Technical Institute has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education for eligible students of the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute to receive Pell Grants and other federal aid (e.g., Direct Loans). Additional aid options open to qualifying students of MMI include grants, loans, work/study programs, and Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits.

The Motorcycle Mechanics Institute offers the following student services: alumni services, career services, and student support services.
