Saint Leo University (SLU) was Florida’s first Catholic institution of higher learning. It was founded in 1889. SLU serves more than 12,000 students, 1,000 of which attend classes at its main campus in Saint Leo, Florida, with the remainder attending classes through Saint Leo's 15 Continuing Education centers in five states and through the Center for Online Learning. The mission of SLU is to seek balanced growth in mind, body and spirit for all members of its community.
Saint Leo University offers 41 academic programs, including bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, pre-professional and accelerated learning programs. Through the Center for Online Learning, Saint Leo University provides degree programs regardless of location. Saint Leo offers nine online degree programs that lead to associates or bachelor degrees. The Saint Leo Continuing Education Center also provides students with a convenient opportunity to supplement the courses they take in traditional classrooms with Internet based courses.
With these online courses and programs, Saint Leo students set their own weekly study schedule and "attend class" anytime, anywhere. The flexibility of online courses and programs allow individuals with significant work/life commitments to obtain the education they need to start a new career or further an existing career.
Saint Leo University offers the following student services: academic advising, alumni services, athletics, career services, student life services, and tutoring. Saint Leo University has a Program Participation Agreement with the US Department of Education for eligible students to receive Pell Grants and other federal aid (e.g., Direct Loans). Additional aid options open to qualifying students of Saint Leo include grants, loans, scholarships, state aid, Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits, and work/study programs.
Saint Leo University is regionally accredited by the Commission of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's degrees. The International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACEB) also accredits Saint Leo University. Saint Leo University's program in Social Work is accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of the Council on Social Work Education. Saint Leo University's undergraduate sport management program is accredited by the Sports Management Program Review Council (SMPRC). Saint Leo University also has Teacher Education Programs that are approved by the State of Florida Department of Education.
