Founded in 1881, the University of Scranton is a school of about 4,800 undergraduate and graduate students located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The University of Scranton is a Catholic and Jesuit university animated by the spiritual vision and the tradition of excellence characteristic of the Society of Jesus and those who share in its way of proceeding. The University is a community dedicated to the freedom of inquiry and personal development fundamental to the growth in wisdom and integrity of all who share in its life.

U.S.News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” edition ranked the University among the 10 top master’s universities in the north. The Princeton Review has included Scranton among its “357 Best Colleges.” Kaplan Publishing has profiled the University of Scranton in its guide to the nation’s “331 Most Interesting Colleges” for the past three years.

The University of Scranton has a significant offering of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The University is also now offering two of its well regarded Master of Science in Education degree programs entirely online. These online degree programs can be completed in approximately one year. The flexibility of online programs, where students can "attend" at a time and place of their own choosing, makes it easy for individuals with substantial work/life obligations to obtain the education they need to start a new career or further an existing career.
