Founded in 1873, Vanderbilt University is a university of over 11,000 students located in Nashville, Tennessee. Vanderbilt University is a center for scholarly research, informed and creative teaching, and service to the community and society at large. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Vanderbilt 18th in National Universities, 15th in Research-oriented Medical Schools, 4th in Graduate Schools of Education (Peabody College), 39th in Graduate Business Schools (Owen Graduate School of Management), 17th in Law Schools, 29th in Graduate Schools of Nursing, and 38th in Undergraduate Engineering Schools.

Vanderbilt University consists of ten colleges and schools, including the College of Arts and Science, the Blair School of Music, the Divinity School, the School of Engineering, the Graduate School, the Law School, the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, the Owen Graduate School of Management, and the Peabody College (of education and human development). Vanderbilt University's School of Nursing has taken its highly regarded Health Systems Management Master of Science in Nursing degree program into an online, e-Learning environment. The program can be completed in just two calendar years (six semesters) of part-time study.
